Re-Discovering My Passion, Again…

Your feet can learn the steps, but only your heart can skate them….

Ah, the smell of the arena; the glint of the lights on a freshly flooded sheet of ice.


My first true love, my hearts desire.  Figure skating.  For a sport that’s infamous for it’s judging, it’s the one place I know that I can go, and not judge myself.

It’s just me, and the ice.  The old friend, that you haven’t seen in a while, but you know will welcome you back with open arms.  The caress of its love as you take that first step on the ice, the feel of your blades carving the ice. “You’re back”, he says. “I’ve missed you”.

The whisper of the air moving past you as you pick up speed, and then the feeling of your body as your muscle memory kicks in – a little rusty at first, but ah! there it is, you’re skating in the ice, and not on top of it.

Hello Lover. It’s been a long time, old friend, and I’ve missed you too, but I’m back.

    How I wish I could skate. It looks so easy but I am terrified of slipping and falling on the ice. this is why I never could out of fear but I wish I could skate well enough to get past that fear. I did it with rollerskating mind you.

      Hi Jackie, thanks for coming by. I used to rollerskate all the time when I was in highschool. The principle is the same, just ice instead of concrete. 🙂
