Wednesday Reflections

In her Wednesday blog post, Catherine @ Transformational Diaries asked her readers to think about the following questions and to share our answers.

What worked well for you this week ?

I think that this week, I haven’t felt as tired in the morning, and that has helped me get up and get going.  I’m feeling my body energize and realize that what I have been doing for it these past 3 weeks has helped me be more motivated.

What setbacks did you have and how did you go with them?

One setback for me was sitting down too long at the computer and getting allowing myself to get distracted.  I found some great blogs, and sat and read all of them instead of doing other things like exercising, tidying the house, etc.  I felt more tired on Monday night from not working out, so I realized that I need to organize my time better, and that worked out well on Tuesday

How did you feel physically and mentally during the week?

As I said in question 1, I’m feeling more energized, alert and ready to tackle everything on my list.  I feel that through my eating well, and working out, not only is my body energy great, but so is my mental energy.

What are your personal goals for this coming week? Note that they don’t have to be only related to food and exercise. Getting a hold on a source of stress is just as valid, as is finally speaking with the person who has been causing you grief. Our weight issues are multi-faceted.

I have my usual weekly goals for fitness and nutrition this week, but in addition to that I’d like to start taking baby steps towards reconnecting with my brother.  It’s been 4 years since we last spoke in person, so I’m going to start sending him small messages by email or Facebook, with the goal being to see him over the Christmas holidays.  He’s my only sibling, and I would have to say that this is my one regret/disappointment/sadness in my life that I feel I have no control over “repairing”.  Both our parents have passed, and he is my only sibling.  I keep trying to restablish our relationship, but he keeps pushing me away.

    It’s a difficult thing to try to repair a relationship and I’m so inspired by your goal to reconnect with your brother.

    And I agree with you about more energy when you get moving. Even a little bit really helps!

    Hey there Patricia. Thanks for joining us on Weigh-In Wednesday.

    Not feeling tired in the mornings is such a good feeling – it’s actually easier to make good choices throughout the day, whether it be food, exercise, priorities etc. Like you, I have to manage my time better ’cause I just burn time all too easily.

    As for the baby steps towards your brother – that is huge! We hold on to so many regrets, disappointments, old anger and this weight loss journey gives us a chance to let go of more than just weight. Quite liberating when you look at it that way (that last comment was for me by the way)!

    Look forward to hearing how you went next Wednesday!

* Continue my healthy eating and exercise program
* Lower my body weight by 10% by February 1st, 2011
* Lose the next 10% of body weight (17 lbs) by April 1, 2011
